Community Involvement

Community participation in research ensures that studies are relevant to wider society. A particular study might have clear scientific goals but often communities have broader aims such as health improvements or reducing in rates of illness. Reaching these goals for society can only be achieved by greater public and patient involvement in research. Linking research, policy and practice

Linking research, policy and practice

Community participation in aMASE is essential, not only for the success of the study but to ensure that the needs of migrants (as well as people living with HIV) remain central to the survey. Representatives from community-based and non-governmental organizations (CBNGOs) have been part of the design and conceptualization of the project and we aim for that collaboration to continue throughout the life-cycle of the study.

Community Advisory Group

A Community Advisory Group (or CAG) was formed to provide feedback to the research team about the aMASE Study methods and instruments. CAG members were chosen from nine countries around Europe. Each CAG member is from a community based organisation that provides services or advice to migrant communities.
